Australia’s ODI and Test captain becomes second casualty for the (KKR) before the announcement of the list of retained players for the 2023 edition of the (IPL). Cummins has chosen not to be retained for the 16th edition of the cash-rich league as he has withdrawn from the whole season owing to packed scheduling next year.
- Taking to Twitter, Cummins said that it’s a difficult decision but he has taken keeping in mind the Ashes and the 2023 Cricket World Cup and utilize that time period in taking some rest.

KKR have been active in the trading window preceding the retention announcement as they have acquired as many as three players from different franchises. KKR traded in Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz from the 2022 champions Gujarat Titans while signing Indian pace-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur from Delhi Capitals while giving them Mumbai pacer Aman Khan in return.
